Jake’s Side – Take 2

Author’s Note

Jake’s Hand was my first novel, and I faced the decision of which POV to use—first person, switching POV, omniscient narrator and something in between. At that time, I was opposed to doing a switching POV, but I realized that there was an interesting story in Jake himself.

Years ago, I had read Lawrence Durrell’s Alexandria Quartet—Justine, Balthazar, Mountolive and Clea—four novels that surrounded the same central story. So, in homage to Durrell, I decided to write a separate novel—Jake’s Side—which explored the same story from Jake’s point of view. But, as with any writing, the character took over and led me in some different directions.
